On Feb 16, 2025, the Pennsylvania S3DA team hosted our 2025 Indoor Target State Championship event at the Lebanon Expo Center. This was a historic event for PA S3DA as we hosted a record-breaking 210 archers from across the Commonwealth! An estimated 770 people (including the archers) attended the event at some point throughout the day. Archers from 15 Pennsylvania S3DA clubs attended the event (Atglen Sportsmen’s Club, Clover Leaf Archery & Conservation, Dillsburg Youth Archers, Lancaster Archery Academy S3DA, Limerick Youth Archery Association Inc., Lonesome Road Archery, Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club, Ontelaunee Archers, Palmyra Sportsmen Association, Perry County Youth Archers, Reading Archery Club Scholastic 3D Archery, Southern Tioga Area Bowhunters, This Is My Quest, INC., West Penn Wolf Pack, York-Hopewell Archers).
Many personal-best records were set across the board. In speaking with some of the archers from the various #PAPowerhouse clubs, it was clear that the event was a success in all aspects. We saw many new PA S3DA members competing in their very first state championship while for some other archers, this would be their last Indoor State Championship as they are aging out of the program. Needless to say, it was a very emotional day for all. In particular, we noted the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by the archers, supporting each other and providing encouragement where needed, regardless of their team affiliation. PA State Coordinator, Pete Slusser, measures event success in smiles, and he stated this one was over the top!
This year’s State Championship included several new “features” as well, such as the electronic scoring, scrolling scoreboard TVs throughout the venue, and certified judges just to name a few. As the program continues to grow, and contingent on sponsorships and donations, we hope to see more improvements and innovations to our state events overall. Of course, this would not be at all possible without the generous donations of our sponsors as well as the support of all our volunteers. Through their generous donations and discounts, we made the 2025 Indoor State Championship a huge hit.
